About
Hi, I’m Shannon Sexton and I’ve been a photographer and writer for over 15 years.
As a naturally creative, curious soul, finding portrait photography felt like coming home to a roaring fire and a tumbler of whiskey. Meeting new people, capturing something of their spirit, and crafting a mini-story of their life at that moment in time, is just so satisfying.
I’m also a published writer with a passion for media and politics. Alongside my professional work, I’ve explored various personal writing projects, including a short memoir set to be released next year.
I’ve had photography and writing published by The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Simon and Schuster, Women’s Agenda, and Who Magazine, was a finalist in the Olive Cotton Awards and a place getter in the Picturing Footscray Awards, and was the portrait artist for Van Walker’s “Ghosting” album, and produced video art for Jeff Lang’s music video, “Blues for Matthew.”
I was also recently included on this list of The Top 10 Best Photography Portfolio Examples of 2024
I live in Melbourne’s inner west with my daughter and ginger cat, Kenny. My favourite city is New York, preferred season is autumn, and I love stiletto boots, lipstick, faux fur, and rock ‘n’ roll.
